How to Sell on Etsy With Instagram Selling on Etsy Made Ridiculously Easy Vol4 Charles Huff 9781970119220 Books Reviews

  • I have been interested in using Instagram for both fun and work for a while, but for some reason I find it intimidating. One of my friends has been encouraging me to try the app and I want to learn how to use it! That's where this book comes in.

How to Sell on Etsy with Instagram is a short (less than 100 pages), fast (less than an hour) read. The chapters are also short, with bolded highlights. The information is basic but SUPER helpful for a newbie.

I think the author's marketing ideas are great ... some I already use (on other platforms) and some that are very new and creative. I found the tone of the book positive and creative, and it made me want to explore Instgram ... which was the exact reason I read the book.
  • a short read includes actionable ideas, nothing way over the top, good basic info.
  • ok, didn't answer all my questions, but good basic book
  • This book helped things “click” for me. Solid advice. Thanks for taking the time to write this informative how to book.

Eat This Book challenges us to read the Scriptures on their own terms, as God’s revelation, and to live them as we read them. With warmth and wisdom Peterson offers greatly needed, down-to-earth counsel on spiritual reading. In these pages he draws readers into a fascinating conversation on the nature of language, the ancient practice of lectio divina, and the role of Scripture translations; included here is the “inside story” behind Peterson’s own popular Bible translation, The Message.

"I agree with his beginning premise that believers (Christians) should read the Bible far more than they read the rest of religious literature combined.

I also agree that the Bible becomes accessible to everyone if they will simply read it through in a timely manner repeatedly.

Where I disagreed with the author is that he could not leave it at that, instead, he circled back to support the necessity of some level of outside academic helps to really get anything out of reading the Bible.

I think if you can read, and you want to meet God, you will find Him and reading the Bible is the primary way God connects us to faith in His Son Jesus Christ"

Eat This Book A Conversation in the Art of Spiritual Reading Eugene H Peterson 0884363140043 Books Reviews

  • Eugene Peterson is one of my favorite theologians. Like Henri Nouwen, Peterson has an unusual gifting with words. He phrases his thoughts with extraordinary insight. His ability to conceptualize truth is uncommon. And this book is no exception to his literary genius. Chapter four on biblical exegesis alone is worth the price of the book. In fact, it is the best book I've ever read on the nature and importance of exegetical research and lectio divina. This book serves as a reminder of our central task as preachers.

Unlike any other profession in the world, preachers have the privilege to shape people's lives with Scripture. This book teaches us how to be moved and how to move others, how to enter the text ourselves and import the text into others. The unique insights here will drive you to make the study of Scripture your paramount priority for preaching and for personal growth. Like Nouwen's writings, it is the type of book that every sentence must be read and contemplated. I believe there is no higher calling than the call to transform lives through the framing of consonants, vowels, nouns, and verbs of the Bible. I highly recommend this book for every Evangelical preacher.
  • Eugene Peterson brings the history, purpose, and plan of Scripture to life in "Eat This Book". He transformed my approach to Bible reading through this book. If you want more out of reading the Bible, this book will illuminate the path to the living, active Word that has the power to shape your heart and direct your life. This is for someone who wants to read Scripture for more than just information--it is for those who seeks a deeper, richer relationship with God through His Word. I loved it!
  • Eugene Peterson, the author of the Message paraphrase of the Bible is a prolific author. He has also authored several other books, including a 5 volume spiritual theology series. Eat This Book (2006) is the second book in the series. Peterson informs the reader about the importance of how we read the Bible and not just that we read it. Too often, evangelicals come to the Bible with a desire to parse and master the word rather than have the word master them. In the first section, he makes a strong case for the transformative nature of scripture. In the second, he presents the Lectio Divina, a method of sacred reading. Well, to be fair, he is careful not to provide a prescriptive method, but rather talks about what spiritual reading looks like. I particularly benefited from his description of the contemplatio as this has never been entirely clear to me before. In the third section, he addresses how Bibles are translated including his own approach to translating the Message. This section did not flow from the other two, but was interesting nonetheless. I think this is a beneficial read for those wanting to grow in godliness through interacting with the word.
  • I agree with his beginning premise that believers (Christians) should read the Bible far more than they read the rest of religious literature combined.

I also agree that the Bible becomes accessible to everyone if they will simply read it through in a timely manner repeatedly.

Where I disagreed with the author is that he could not leave it at that, instead, he circled back to support the necessity of some level of outside academic helps to really get anything out of reading the Bible.

I think if you can read, and you want to meet God, you will find Him and reading the Bible is the primary way God connects us to faith in His Son Jesus Christ
  • I love this book. It is vintage Peterson. In simple but compelling language, he informs and educates the reader on both how and why we should read the Bible seriously. I was gratified to see that he was really telling us how to meditate and internalize the power that lies in the words of "God's WQord."
  • Eat This Book A Conversation in the Art of Spiritual Reading by Eugene H. Peterson.

Chapters one through seven will be helpful for most Christians. In them, Peterson endeavors to make reading the Bible personal, relational, and transformational. Instead of someone being lord of the text, examining it as if in a laboratory, one is to submit their life to the transforming, power-filled, recreating, inspirational thoughts of Scripture. We should not use Scripture to string together positions that support our dogma or encourage a consumer attitude that allows us to be our own gods. We, instead, should approach Scripture to find out what God is saying to us and how we can live within his world; we are to enter and live the Story via the aid of Scripture. Peterson does not want us to read the Bible literally but seriously, in the language of Tyndale's `plowboy'--everyday language that helps us relate to, understand, enter into and live within God's currently unfolding story.

This isn't a book written by someone growing in the "art of spiritual reading", nor penned by a person who knows the topic in theory but not reality. Peterson has lived his topic for decades and again displays his typical ability to write theologically wide and deep thoughts that are digestible and real. Uniquely and contrastingly, he is in all rights both a biblical scholar and linguist but also a pastor, discipler, and champion of the devotional live.
Chapters eight and nine expose the setting, motives, worldview, and rational behind Peterson's Message. I've read too much of Peterson to think that he is advocating a reader responsive method of hermeneutics; nonetheless, in translation work he is ever seeking for fresh insight that illuminates and amplifies the original. Quoting Bediako, Peterson is not tied to the history of translation but rather sees translation work as `a moment of growth of the original [text], which will complete itself in enlarging itself" (173). I don't agree. He recognizes the value of other translations (176), but for him, `the only way that style and tone could be conveyed to the people among whom [he] lived was through paraphrase'. [175] One senses that with regards to Peterson perspective of reading and translating the Bible, his pendulum has swung from an original dogmatic, legalistic KJV Scofield only stance [174] to where he is today. That said,

    * The Message is worth reading, provided it is read like one would listen to a sermon--elaborated thoughts from an original text by a flawed person attempting to stand between two worlds--the world of the Bible and the world of his listeners.

    * Eat this Book is worth reading, as it contemporizes the long held practice of Lectio Divina.

Poet and soldier, brawler and charmer, Cyrano de Bergerac is desperately in love with Roxane, the most beautiful woman in Paris. But there is one very large problem - he has a nose of stupendous size and believes she will never see past it to return his feelings. So when he discovers that the handsome but tongue-tied Christian is also pining for Roxane, generous Cyrano offers to help by writing exquisite declarations of love for the young man to woo her with. Will she ever recognize who she is really falling in love with? Set during the reign of Louis XIII, Rostand's Cyrano de Bergerac (1897) was one of the great theatrical successes of its time and remains as popular today for its dramatic power and, above all, for its good-natured, passionate and swashbuckling hero.

For more than seventy years, Penguin has been the leading publisher of classic literature in the English-speaking world. With more than 1,700 titles, Penguin Classics represents a global bookshelf of the best works throughout history and across genres and disciplines. Readers trust the series to provide authoritative texts enhanced by introductions and notes by distinguished scholars and contemporary authors, as well as up-to-date translations by award-winning translators.

"Classic tale which I have read in both French and English (Brian Hooker translation). Worth reading in either version.
I find it inexpressibly bizarre that Amazon displays reviews of any edition of this work with every edition they offer, making it difficult to know whether the reviewer is referring to THIS edition -- offered for $0 with a plain-looking bi-color cover, in French -- or to a copy of the truly delightful Brian Hooker translation, or to some other version suffering with a brickbat translation.
Amazon should know better. Assuming that the various editions of _Cyrano_ are fungible is comparable to assuming that any online purchasing site is comparable to Amazon.com. Is that what Amazon thinks?"

Cyrano de Bergerac Penguin Classics Edmond Rostand Carol Clark 9780140449686 Books Reviews

  • First of all, this is my favorite of all plays. I bought this version, which is a blank verse translation by Louis Untermeyer, to compare with the more familiar Brian Hooker translation. Unfortunately, the e-book conversion is of very poor quality. There seems to be little attention to formatting the verse as poetry, some lines are randomly indented with the left margin about 3/4 of the way across the page, etc. Plus on just a quick skim over the text I spotted some uncorrected OCR errors or typos in the names of characters. I kind of expect that an e-book I pay money for is going to be of better quality than this.

I ended up doing some reformatting of the e-book so I could at least read it. Comparing Untermeyer's translation to Hooker's, Untermeyer takes less poetic license with the text and stays closer to the French original in a number of places -- for example, Untermeyer retains the references to Pyramus, Celadon, and Scaramouche where Hooker substituted other literary allusions more familiar to English-speaking audiences. Perhaps a relic of the bad formatting, but I found Untermeyer's language often less "poetic" than Hooker's throughout. On the other hand, on some lines I think Untermeyer has the better or less awkward phrasing.

Overall, I'd rate this translation just below the Hooker, overall, and definitely way better than the horrible Thomas/Guillemard version which has become ubiquitous due to having been published by Project Gutenberg years ago.

BTW, a free e-book of the Hooker translation has been published by Roy Glashan's Library in Australia. It is in the public domain in countries with life+50 copyright, but not in the US.
  • Classic tale which I have read in both French and English (Brian Hooker translation). Worth reading in either version.
I find it inexpressibly bizarre that displays reviews of any edition of this work with every edition they offer, making it difficult to know whether the reviewer is referring to THIS edition -- offered for $0 with a plain-looking bi-color cover, in French -- or to a copy of the truly delightful Brian Hooker translation, or to some other version suffering with a brickbat translation.
should know better. Assuming that the various editions of _Cyrano_ are fungible is comparable to assuming that any online purchasing site is comparable to . Is that what thinks?
  • I read this along with my granddaughter who had it assigned as a summer book. I hadn't read it before, (when I was supposed to in school) after a while it's a can't-put-it-down romp. It takes a minute to get into the play within a play, but then moves swiftly. It's absurdest French comedy, but very important for it's time.
  • is being careless with the descriptions of the items. The "From the Publisher" section stated this was the Brian Hooker translation and it is not. This is not a criticism of the work, obviously, but if you are looking for a specific translation, you cannot trust the web page.
  • I got the mass market paperback edition of Brian Hooker's famous translation, and to tell the truth, I enjoyed this story even more than I thought I would. The opening scene is very atmospheric, the whole story is quite descriptive, quite eligible for deep discussion, and Cyrano is a very fascinating and inspiring character. Edmond Rostand was a brilliant writer and I thank him for this marvelous story.
  • I currently own four different translations of Cyrano de Bergerac with another two more on the way. I am truly surprised to see how many new translations are being turned out of this wonderful classic. By far, three of the greatest are Brian Hooker's, Anthony Burgess' and Lowell Blair's. But I wanted to see what was new in the world of Cyrano. Penguin Books is known for its quality and I have seldom been let down.

In this case, I felt let down and disappointed. Carol Clark's translation just doesn't seem to have the feel for the character of Cyrano that so many of us have come to know and love. Though she is one of the few who ends the play with the word "panache'," her translation has too many spots that just don't feel the "white plume of freedom" Cyrano spoke of in rebellion to the the elite who wore their beauty, grace and flair on the outside and those who sucked up to them. Also, Carol Clark takes liberty in changing meaning in certain key places that I particularly did not care for at all. Perhaps her only true innovation is the proper gender tense he uses with regard to his sword which he regards as a "she" as in the original French. She gets too many things wrong to be commended for translating a Cyrano that will endure. I believe it is a novelty.

Let me emphasize that this is not a "bad" rendering "per se"; I feel strongly that it is just not a good rendering. It's merely AVERAGE, mediocre but as Cyrano believed in striving to be the best in everything, perhaps Carol Clark should have taken a page out of his book? I don't believe it will be any more understandable or accessable to today's reader than older translations and the reader will be losing out on so much with this rendering. I feel strongly that the Clark translation plays fast and loose in certain key areas even though she may make up for it in others. Thus she receives an "okay" three stars but I was sorely tempted to give her two.

If you are looking for a brand-new translation and are willing to let go of preconceptions, Carol Clark's Cyrano may be for you. BUT if you are new to Cyrano de Bergerac and want a truer and more faithful version to Edmond Rostand's orginal play, character and the language, I would strongly recommend avoiding this one and purchasing one of the following any edition by Brian Hooker (his translation was behind the 1950 Jose Ferrer Academy Award winning performance of Cyrana), Lowell Blair (I've become more fond of this one with each reading) or finding one of the Anthony Burgess editions (Gerard Depardieu's Cyrano movie's English sub-titles as well as countless plays have used this edition). These three are all 5 star translations. Christopher Fry's rhyming couplet Cyrano by Oxford is good (4 star) but not up to the standard of the three authors I have listed as alternatives to Clark.

In conclusion, I would say this Will I read this play more than once? Perhaps, but only for comparison to the other better translations of Cyrano I have but never for enjoyment as I do with my other versions. A newcomer to Cyrano might enjoy this rendering and fall in love with the character but I personally don't see how; the translator has robbed Cyrano of much of his inner panache' and the other characters of their own unique qualities. I do not believe this translation has any staying power and will quickly be swept aside for the familiar and better translations that have been around longer, having already stood the test of time. For while the authors I have cited as alternatives may have different styles, they all tap into Cyrano's inner panache', his white plume of freedom, flair and independence whereas Clark's version seems to me to be just revision for revisionist sake without any vision or pathos or the wit that has set Cyrano apart since 1897.

"A police procedural, without much procedure. The reader will suspect, early on, that there’s a conspiracy afoot, that the double homicide is part of something far larger, and the suspicion is soon borne out.

The sex aspect is muted, mayhem is restricted to the last few pages, and we know that good is going to triumph in the end. The plot is fanciful, though may not be so far-fetched in our current world. With that in mind, this story should still manage to fill in a few empty hours."

The sex aspect is muted, mayhem is restricted to the last few pages, and we know that good is going to triumph in the end. The plot is fanciful, though may not be so far-fetched in our current world. With that in mind, this story should still manage to fill in a few empty hours.
  • As usual Claire McNab has done it again...
Please let the nice Detective find some true happiness in her personal life, the stress of being a cop on top of all that is bound to make her old quick! LOL
  • This series keeps getting all the more intriguing!!! Once again Detective Inspector Carol Ashton makes waves as she tries to uncover the people behind the well planned out murders and she also tries to find a balance between her personal and professional life. I must say that I don't regret losing sleep to read this awesome story!

History, science, culture, and religion converge to tell a story as rich--and dark--as chocolate itself. Fans of The Omnivore's Dilemma will savor this decadent exposé featuring black and white photos.

Melting in your mouth, baked in a brownie, steaming hot in a mug. Chocolate is the ultimate indulgence—but it hasn’t always been such a guilty pleasure.
Join the critically acclaimed author Kay Frydenborg on an in-depth journey through chocolate’s earliest uses in Mesoamerica, its meteoric rise in Western society, the slave labor practices that have historically enabled (and continue to enable) the chocolate industry to thrive, and the modern science used to help sustain our chocolate habit—science that might even help save the environment.

Chocolate Sweet Science Dark Secrets of the World Favorite Treat Kay Frydenborg Books Reviews

  • Always some repetitions in these type of books. But also very good research and easy to read. Good for anyone with deep interest in chocolate.
  • comprehensive presentation of the history and uses of Chocolate. This is great. Well written, easy and interesting read.
  • Great book about the history of chocolate. Enjoyed reading.
  • Good book.
  • Personally, I found this book to be an easy and engaging nonfiction work on the natural history of chocolate. The book is aimed at the young adult (12- to 18-year-old) age group and is a great resource for middle and high school students as well as their teachers. I suspect it will best serve as an excellent companion or extra-credit assignment book for any number of classes focused on history, biology, social studies, economics, health, or geography.

At 228 pages, it a bit long for a work aimed at young adults; yet the print is large and it is full of interesting black-and-white images; also the flow of the text is broken up with recipes, curious historical stories, and the like. The question is will young-adult readers be captivated enough to read this book cover-to-cover without being pushed to do so as part of a class assignment? My guess is no. Most children will not want to read this title on their own for the pure pleasure of reading nonfiction. But this should not be a reason not to purchase this book for a public or school library collection, nor for a teacher not to add the work as a companion text or extra credit book in any number of different academic subjects.

The story of chocolate crosses many different disciplines. Not all students are interested in all subjects. In this book, the focus of the subject matter frequently shifts among history, sociology, anthropology, biology, and nutrition. Some readers will find all these subjects fascinating, but others may lose interest at the crossroads between two very different academic treatments of the same story and put the book down because they’ve lost interest. That’s always the challenge when an author attempts to interpret the world through the study of one particularly fascinating, but narrow, aspect…in this case chocolate.

However, if a child’s love for chocolate can serve as the impetus behind him or her choosing to read this book, then I think it serves a very good purpose. The book nicely demonstrates how one particular thing (in this case a newly discovered seed pod of a new fruit from the tropics) can have a profound impact on the history of the world, an impact far beyond any that anyone could ever have dreamed from the beginning. Young adults need to understand this lesson. This phenomenon is happening at an accelerated rate all around them in today’s modern world through the exponential growth of technology and science.

I enjoyed this book quite a lot, but did find myself skimming parts. At times, the book read like a textbook. At other times, there were charming stories. Some sections seemed to get bogged down in too much detail. But I stuck with the book and finished it…and I’m glad I did.

Chocolate is a sizable and complex topic. It’s obvious the author fell in love with her topic and wanted to cover as much as she could. In my estimation, she did a very good job of narrowing down the material to what might best appeal to young adults. In addition, she was able to write about this topic in prose that, while aimed at young adults, still respected their ability to deal with challenging ideas and complex sentence structure.

It’s too bad the illustrations were done on matte paper rather than glossy paper, but doing otherwise would have made this book unnecessarily expensive.

Public and school libraries should definitely purchase this book. And teachers across many disciplines should not hesitate to add this to a list of suggested additional reading tiles for their class.
  • I was so inspired after reading the book Chocolate Sweet Science & Dark Secrets that I went out and bought my own cacao trees (well seedlings really). I am now in the process of building my own mini rainforest, and in six or seven years I'll be able to make my own chocolate!

Anyway, Ms Frydenborg's book on chocolate is really enlightening and thought provoking. I think it is aimed at YA's, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Almost every topic related to chocolate is covered. The subject matter is handled chronologically starting with the first civilizations to use and cultivate the cacao trees. From the Olmecs, to the Maya, the Aztecs and Incas. The author shows how the cacao was revered by the Mesoamericans and how the beans were used as currency, food, and in religions ceremonies including human sacrifice. Next in the time line comes the invasions of the Spanish & Portuguese and the migrations of chocolate to Europe. The decimation of the native population of central and South American is covered along with the slave trade. Next the author covers the industrialization of cacao that transformed the bitter Mesoamerican drink into the chocolate bars of today. Chocolate makers Hanau & Baker, Nestle, Lindt, Hershery are also included. From here the time line moves to current day and to environmental issues and how the loss of the rainforests is jeopardizing the future of the cacao tree and of chocolate industry itself. The author talks about how various groups are promoting sustainable farming, organic growing, and living wages for the workers. How scientist are mapping the DNA of the different varieties of cacao trees, and how they are hunting for and cataloging the elusive native trees in the hopes of reintroducing the hardy, disease resistant varieties into declining groves of commercial trees.

This book on chocolate includes many diverse topics, but all the topics are woven in an interesting and easy to read story. In the end all the different parts combine to tells the amazing story of chocolate. I will never look at a chocolate bar the same way again.

"Though it has a hefty price tag, this book remains THE CLASSIC for beginning students of professional massage and bodywork. And although I've been a certified therapist since 1991, I still keep the book on my reference shelf (several editions, actually).

So if this text is required for your classes, grit your teeth and buy it; the scope of material should continue to serve you long after graduation.

  • This workbook is written to accompany Beck's Theory and Practice of Therapeutic Massage. However, there are places where the definitions to the vocabulary are missing in the book, where questions or labeling are answered in a future chapter, and where the questions are worded so differently from the book it takes outside research to answer them. Most workbook chapters have at least one of these mistakes and many have several of them making the workbook not only difficult, but confusing. Our teachers have even had a hard time helping us find answers in the book. At times, even the answers that they have from the teacher's guide are clearly wrong or at best confusing. I understand that workbooks are meant to make you think and really get a grasp on the material, but I believe that this should be accomplished without leaving the student confused.
  • This book does a nice job of covering a LOT of topics for massage therapists. The information is presented in clear terms, with definitions highlighted and easy to find throughout each chapter. The pictures, tables, and diagrams are all superb. It's fun to read, and a perfect reference for all kinds of questions or curiosities. It has a lot of practical advice, and provides useful resources and websites you can check out. I absolutely love it! Some textbooks I will sell back after a class is over. I'm keeping this one.
  • This book was not edited well at all. One or two mistakes would be acceptable, but there are too many to be counted. Apparently the author helped to create the MBLEX, so I will see how valuable the massage information is when I take the exam.
The worst part of this book is the anatomy portion. It is as if five different people collaborated on the charts in the sections on the muscles and refused to use the same terminology. If you do not have a good grasp on anatomy it will be completely confusing. Save your time and get a Trail Guide to the Body. The Trail Guide will explain things much better and the pictures are great. If you use both to learn the anatomy the Theory and Practice book will show its inconsistencies.
  • I love this book! So happy we needed it for class. Its very informative about the history of massage. Thats as far in as we are, but its written so wonderfully I have started reading chapters ahead because it has so much information I want to know! Several chapters on marketing and having your own practice. A full section on spa services and even a few spa recipes. Descriptions of different modalities plus photos of the moves. I highly recommend this book!

EDIT I reviewed this book soon after buying it and reading through a good portion of it. Sadly, in Ohio we only need to know about 3-4 chapters from this entire book that are on the State Board Medical Exam. Save your money, split the cost with other students in class. This was unneeded and its so annoying that the school said we needed it, only to find out later we won't even be tested (when it counts) on more than half the book! I no longer highly recommend this book, in fact I would rather suggest you borrow it from the library or another student, or if you must buy it, get it super cheap used, with hi-lights, somewhere else! Sorry
  • We are using this book in our massage classes and while it teaches the things it should, it is poorly written. It will often use several different terms over the course of several paragraphs without explaining that it is talking about the same thing. The grammar is incorrect in several places making it difficult to understand. There are places in the glossary where words are misspelled, and at least one place, that looks like the sentences were cut and pasted back together leaving the letters jumbled. Also, there are some terms that are defined one way in one chapter and in another chapter, they are defined so differently that it is confusing. It even contradicts itself on some things from one chapter to another. I can understand that all books have mistakes, but I have read fiction that had better grammar and no spelling errors. At the price we pay for college textbooks, I believe that they should be edited carefully and should teach their material clearly.
  • This is a well written Book . The presentation and the pictures are very clear. Can be used as a text book for students and reference for practitioners.
  • Nice book looks brand new

Lucky In Love Whelan Brothers Book 2 edition by MK Moore Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

  • I just love these Whelan Brothers and I can't wait for the cousins story and Sully's! Cormac sounded so sexy and a hot alpha, and loved his woman. I love the irish theme in these books.

M.K. Moore did a great job on Lucky In Love, the story was well written and had a great plot. Cormac and Finola were great characters. I enjoyed their story, they had an instant attraction. Thank you for a great read!

    This was an ARC book.
  • This is a great book, safe and sweet with a happy ever after. I have fallen in love with this series and can’t wait for more!
  • This was a sweet, quick read. I did love their instant connection. I was hoping for a bit longer story.
  • Short sweet and steamy. Perfect instaromance with a burly Irish man!!! Must read!
  • Cormac has his routine down and it varies little, run the bar left to him and his brothers when their dad passed last year and repeat. His social life is non-existent and he's just fine with that too. Just like his dad said, he knows the moment he meets his soulmate he'll recognize her. And he does.

Finola turned eighteen and knew she needed to expand, to try something new, so she left her family behind and went to Ireland, the country of her heritage. And then she meets Cormac and realizes she was meant to make this trip, and to never leave.

Cormac and Finola fall hard and fast, their lives merging seamlessly and their HEA well on the way toward happening. And when she shows that she'll be by his side in all ways, adding to his pub and helping keep his dad's legend alive, he falls even deeper in love...if that's even possible.

One-click now and follow along as soulmates meet and embark on their new journey. I enjoyed this story and look forward to the rest, however, I do have concerns regarding Sullivan as he comes off sounding like a manwhore, which is not what I was expecting due to Gareth and Cormac, and their dad's lesson. Also, I cannot wait to see more of Officer Quinn and Molly. Ooh boy, those two. On a personal note, first, Finola has an older sister, then she has older brothers, so I'm not sure which it's supposed to be. Second, I'm glad we're finally told Kiernan is their cousin.

**I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.**
  • Finola has never been so spontaneous but something drove her to suddenly take off for Ireland. After exploring, she wanders into a pub and is mesmerized by the barkeep with the amazing tattoos and suspenders. Cormac doesn't know what brought this lovely lass into his pub but he is going to stop at nothing to keep her. Finola knows this is exactly what she has been searching for but doesn't dare hope that he feels the same. Will Cormac be able to convince her to stay and brighten his heart and his life?

Omgosh, Cormac is a seriously yummy hero! A man with suspenders and tattoos and a sweet disposition, a candidate for book boyfriend for sure. I adored these two together! Finola is just so sweet and charming, I wanted to visit their pub and just enjoy being around them. If you love accents, steamy scenes, instalove and happy ever after, Lucky in Love is the book for you!
  • As we follow along with the next brother in this family of lovers in Ireland (don't you just love a man with an accent). Cormac has his bar and he is fine with that -- he is holding things together for his brothers since their father has passed. Out of the blue in walks the woman for him... an American. Finola has just become legal and is looking to spread her wings and decides to see the place where her father is from. Cormac and Finola fall for each other instantly. Grab a beer and relax and these two find out that you can find your soul mate in an Irish Pub. I am ready for the next installment.....
  • This is book 2 in the Whelan Brothers Series. They can be read as standalones.

  • FODOR'S OREGON is a great travel guide to the entire state of Oregon. It features the urban centers of Portland, Eugene, Medford, Corvallis, Bend, and Salem, as well as the fruit- and vegetable-growing areas of the Willamette Valley, the seafood-producing areas on the coast, and the mountainous areas in the Cascades, as well as the warm, dry, "beef belt" regions of Eastern Oregon. There are accurate descriptions of recreation, dining, sightseeing, shopping, nature, and nightlife for each of these areas. Whether you're traveling to Oregon, or just admire the state's tendency to root for good against evil, DO NOT PASS THIS BOOK UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • I found this guy to be extremely helpful. It helped me decide which route would be more interesting. It was not so deep into the details of every little town. But it was very useful to pick out some highlights as I drove through. There are good maps. They weren't that detailed but very helpful. Also there are good suggestions for places to eat and places to sleep. By dividing up the state into sections that can be explored one trip at a time, it is useful to plan for future visits. Oregon is a big state so don't plan on seeing everything in this book in just a few trips.
  • FODOR'S OREGON is a great guide to Oregon. Granted, a large portion- at least one-quarter- is devoted to Portland and its environs, but that shouldn't surprise you, since it's the state's biggest city and has lots to offer. Besides, there's plenty in here about the Willamette Valley (including Corvallis, Salem, and Albany), plus a section on the city of Eugene, along with great coverage of southern and eastern Oregon. Overall, this book has plenty of information about sightseeing, dining, recreation, shopping, nightlife, and lodging, so if you're planning a trip to Oregon, or just interested in the Beaver State, DO NOT PASS THIS BOOK UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • I planned a trip to the PNW in May for my husband, his friend, and myself. We had a blast, and I essentially used this book for all of the planning. The hotel suggestions were fantastic. The RiverPlace in Portland was fantastic. It was a great location for walking around the cities, the hotel itself had a very cool vibe, and the staff was awesome. The Edgewater in Seattle wasn't quite as great, but we chose it for all the history associated with that hotel. Fodor's had given RiverPlace a star of approval, but withheld it from the review of the Edgewater. Again, the reviews were spot-on.

The sight-seeing suggestions were also great. We headed out to the Oregon Coast and decided to visit Cannon Beach (Goonies, man). It was really nice to have reviews of each little seaside town. Multnomah Falls are not to be missed. The guidebook had great suggestions for Mount Rainier Nat'l Park as well...but I'm pretty sure the sequester screwed us out of being able to do as much as we'd hoped. We still had a good time though. In Washington, we drove out on the Olympic Peninsula, but we only had a day to spend. I really needed to narrow down to our top-choice spots, and it was perfect. We stopped at Lake Quinault for lunch, headed out to Ruby Beach, turned in for the Hoh rainforest, and just generally had a blast. (If you aren't pressed for time, I do recommend taking longer than a day for the Olympic Peninsula, it's huge, and we spent a ridiculous amount of time in the car).

The only negative for me was the quality of the restaurant reviews. For example, the book suggested that while Ray's Boathouse was more about the view than the food, the food was still good. It wasn't. We had much better luck using Tripadvisor and Yelp for restaurants. Other than that, though, we were really pleased.
  • I'm fairly familiar with OR and I can see how most people traveling to places just want the basic info and if so, this book should fit the bill. For those looking for some more in depth stuff, forget this book. It's like most other travel books where the authors just "mailed it in".
  • I highly recommend this book to anyone visiting or traveling through Oregon. There are excellent maps, guides for nearly every region, every major site, City and town. Everything from food recommendation,Hikes, history, to sites you probably couldn't have found without a guide.
  • The book is perhaps too all encompassing. A confusing and poorly indexed look at a huge geographic and cultural expanse. I spent 30 minutes trying to find items specific to Vancouver Washington and turned up nothing excepted a confusing Portland section. The incredibly small number of reccomnendations for each 'area' ensures my vacation planning will take place online. The writing of the content is great. But it can't save the poor 'pull outs' with tips like 'top reasons to go to the Pacific Northwest--'hip cities'. All in all disappointing.
  • Fodor's Oregon was exactly what I needed to plan our trip to Portland next month. I love how it divides the state up into regions and then divides the city into neighborhoods. I always purchase a Fodor's guidebook for every vacation.

Pairing modern psychology with liberal Christian spirituality, Dr. Ellen O'Donnell and Rev. Molly Baskette deliver a clear and compelling modus operandi for making family life work--one rooted in research on parenting and Christian values, peppered with personal stories and a heavy dose of humor.

When authors Ellen O'Donnell and Molly Baskette became parents, they read lots of books on parenting--many of them great. But when it came to practical suggestions that would help their family spiritually and psychologically, they came up short. Together, they sought out brainstorming actionable steps to help their families in ways that weren't being discussed in parenting books. This book is the fruit of their brainstorming and discussions.
nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; In Bless This Mess, readers will gain tools as they learn how to talk to kids about money, bodies, God, ethics, disability, and difference; how to stress less (really); how to embody an ethic of service to others; how to live a practice of deep generosity and gratitude; and, most of all, how to stop being so afraid all the damn time, as we raise our kids in an increasingly chaotic and often scary world. Both Christian spirituality and modern science can help us parent more fearlessly in an age of anxiety. With real-life examples and strategies to address the challenges of raising a toddler, preteen, or teenager, Bless This Mess guides parents of children at all stages of their development.
nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; Readers will shed stress with this resource they can turn to again and again for practical guidance as their children grow and the family encounters new challenges. Most important, readers will not feel alone, as they peruse relatable stories and are reminded of the companionship of God in their parenting journey.

Essentials of Genetics 4th Edition William S Klug Michael R Cummings Books Reviews

  • This book was assigned to me for an introductory genetics class, with no prerequisite biology needed for the class. The way this book presents genetics is awful for an intro class. I have taken multiple other biology classes, and thus understand the information better than my classmates, but this book is organized in a very confusing way without a lot of explanation in many areas. If you are thinking of using this book for an intro genetics course, please don't. And this is coming from a student with a 4.0. It's terrible.
  • I mean, obviously I got this for a class. I found I rarely used it (got an A in the class) and when I did some of the information was a little contradictory to what is on scholarly articles on the internet. If you're buying this you are probably buying it for a class anyways, though. So buy away. It did come as the edition listed, so you will be getting the edition you are paying for.
  • Came w/mold on the cover-water damage?-other than that no writing in the book which is a bonus
  • DO NOT BUY if you are looking for the Mastering Genetics access code. I purchased a new text EXPLICITLY because it said it was part of an "access code package". I understand access codes are not guaranteed with used texts, but new ones should have them (especially if advertised IN THE TITLE). What a rip-off.
  • The textbook was basically informative and useful, however, it asked questions in which the answers were not accessible so that when you were done working them you wondered how close to right you were. There was also too little information given in the text to use to answer some of the more complicated problems without researching elsewhere to figure out how to work them. In summary, it would have been better if the problems at the end of each chapter were better supported by the text itself.
  • This was a well written and informative book, it went in a logical order so that the base material allowed for building of later material in an easy to understand way without jumping around. There were clear illustrations and review points.
  • textbook for college - cheap and easy option for renting
  • Good price for an older edition. The cover is very bent and some of the pages look like they may have gotten wet.
